FISHING VESSEL AQUARIUM RESCUE, Alaska

KODIAK, Alaska (Oct. 31)--Four Homer men are now safe in Kodiak after being hoisted off the fishing vessel Aquarium today by a Coast Guard helicopter near Ugak Bay on Kodiak Island. Rescued were (left to right) crewmen Filip F. Martushev, age 23, crewmen Andrey I. Martushev, age 21, skipper Zachary F. Martushev, age 18, and crewmen Ivan Martshev, age 48 . The Aquarium?s crew called the Coast Guard about 6 a.m. stating the 32-foot boat?s engines were disabled and they were drifting towards shore. The Coast Guard issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast requesting assistance from vessels in the area. A helicopter was launched after no vessels responded. USCG photo by PA1 Keith Alholm.
