Summary

FORT BENNING, Ga. – Fort Benning leaders March 24 make final review of information shortly before start of their second online COVID-19 town hall meeting, live-streamed on Facebook to keep the community updated on protective and other measures taken against spread of the virus. Among topics covered were steps taken to check whether new recruits and others reporting to Fort Benning for COVID-19, and actions to ensure that Soldiers held over at Fort Benning under a current Pentagon travel ban are properly provided for. The live-stream featured Maj. Gen. Gary M. Brito (right), commanding general of the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning, Col. Matthew Scalia (center), commander, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Benning, and Col. Melissa J. Hoffman, commander of Fort Benning’s Martin Army Community Hospital. An initial COVID-19 town hall meeting was live-streamed March 17. Brito this week said the COVID-19 live-streams would be held weekly.
