Fort Bliss, Texas- Soldiers from units across Fort Bliss do a validation exercise to test their skills using tourniquets to stop severe hemorrhaging on mannequins as part of a Combat Lifesaver course at the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC) here September 11-14. The 40-hour course provides the Soldiers with realistic scenarios related to current battlefield tactics. The course consist of tourniquet placement, nasopharyngeal airways (NPA), and performing needle chest decompression (NCD) to treat tension pneumothorax or a collapsed lung.
