Fort McCoy, Building No. T-1004, South Side of Eleventh Avenue, Block 10, Sparta, Monroe County, WI
Summary
Significance: Building T-1004 is an Officers' Recreation Building, Type ORBL-3, which served officers in the medical corps (either doctors or nurses). Building T-1004 is one of two buildings of this type found at McCoy; the other example is Building T-1019, and it is located on the opposite side of the hospital administration building (Building T-1010). Both doctors' and nurses' quarters are located in close proximity to the recreation facilities, which provided space for relaxation, reading, and other activities during breaks in the officers' schedules.
