GALAPAGOS ISLAND OIL SPILL

Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on Isla San Cristobal, GALAPAGOS ISLAND (Jan. 25)--Two of the ten GST responders take a break from the heat during response to the oil spill in the Galapagos Island. The Galapagos are located on the Equator about 600 miles west of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean. The tank vessel Jessica ran hard aground in the Galapagos archipelago Jan. 16, spilling about 200,000 gallons of oil into a pristine environment known for unique wildlife and aquatic species.
