description

Summary

From the urban and exotic Turkish Baths in Dublin, to a verdant country scene for todays shot. This image, labelled as possibly being in County Galway, is from the the Clonbrock collection and features a beautiful scene of rural bliss!..With thanks in particular to Rory_Sherlock ( /photos/139877639@N08/ ) we now know that this is actually Warwick Castle in the UK ( Warwick_Castle ) . The community offers a more recent Streeview/PhotoSphere ( https://goo.gl/maps/QWhqsFygNtM2 ) from a similar angle. ..While the "Galway" part of the label may be incorrect, the photographer may still well have been "Edward". If so, the Edward in question may have been Robert Edward Dillon (1869-1926) brother to Georgiana, Edith, and Ethel - some of whom are likely pictured (if well camoflaged in the foliage). Or, as sharon.corbet ( /photos/129555378@N07/ ) notes, the Edward in question could have been Edward "Ned" Crofton (uncle to the ladies believed pictured)......Photographers: Dillon Family..Contributors: Luke Gerald Dillon, Augusta Caroline Dillon..Collection: Clonbrock photographic Collection ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000315679 ) ..Date: Circa 1900..NLI Ref: CLON1032 ( vtls000522845 ) ..You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
