Summary
Garrison Dam, in North Dakota, saw unprecedented releases through its structure during the Missouri River flood in 2011. The St. Louis District’s rope access inspection team was called upon to inspect it’s 28 tainter gates, plus the gates on the five other dams on the Missouri River - 95 gates total. Teams from Philadelphia and New England districts were called in to complete this task in the short timeline needed by the Northwestern Division.
