MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Dec. 28, 2017) Gas Turbine System Technician Mechanical 3rd Class Shannon Gold changes out filters on a fuel oil coalescer in main engine room two aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) as the ship transits the Mediterranean Sea. Carney, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its fourth patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of regional allies and partners, and U.S. national security interests in Europe.
