LIBI_00019_00229; This item is a black-and-white photograph of General George Custer and General Alfred Pleasanton on horseback with tents in the background. The photograph is 5 x 6 7/8" unmounted and was produced circa 1861 by Matthew B. Brady. Some fading is present around the edges of the image. On the verso, a handwritten notation in pencil reads, "General Custer as a Lieutenant on General Pleasanton's staff during the Civil War. Civil War - G.A.
