George Goldsmith, Army Reserve ambassador, presents the South Carolina proclamation to Valerie and Jaykwon Thompson at the U.S. Army Reserve Center, Orangeburg, S.C., Feb. 21. The Thompsons were present at the memorialization ceremony naming the Reserve center after her husband and his father, Staff Sgt. Anthony Thompson, who was killed in combat in Iraq in 2003. "Naming the center in a public event, like the one we are hosting, is to honor both the service of Staff Sgt. Thompson and the support from this community and Army families," said Maj. Gen.
