PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 19, 2007) Gunner's Mate 3rd Class Benjamin Smith and other members of a firing detail fire three volleys during a burial at sea ceremony aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln conducted the solemn and sacred tradition of burial at sea for 11 former service members during her transit home to Everett, Wash. Lincoln completed carrier qualifications, Tailored Ship's Training Availability and Final Evaluation Problem during a scheduled work-up off the coast of Southern California.
