Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) Austrian artist, one of the founders of European Art Nouveau. He has chosen a painter career since childhood. He received an academic education in Vienna and wrote for a long time by its canons. For the design of the Vienna theater and Museum, Klimt at the age of 26 received an imperial award. Soon after, Gustav led a revolt of young Austrian artists against the framework and limitations of academic painting, founding the Vienna Secession association. Despite the sarcastic comments and ridicule of critics, Klimt remained a favorite of the public until his death, who willingly bought up his paintings.
