Hamstead and Great Barr Station - lnwrgb2289 - Nightingale postcard
Summary
"Looking across the line towards Great Barr's main new station building erected on the up platform. This photograph was taken in the early twentieth century and shows that Great Barr station had entirely been rebuilt with even the new up platform being erected to the same height seen adopted for the down platform seen earlier. The railway had also taken the decision to erect the station's main building on the up platform rather than the down although the latter still retained a sizeable structure. The booking office, waiting rooms and toilet facilities were located within the building on the up platform whilst the down platform retained facilities just for passenger comfort."
