Summary
Harriet Hanson Robinson worked as a bobbin doffer in the Lowell Mills starting at the tender age of 10 in 1835. In her autobiography, "Loom & Spindle", she proudly recounts leading a group of other workers out on strike in 1836. Later in life, she also organized the Massachusetts chapter of the National Woman Suffrage Association and worked with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony to advance the cause of suffrage both in Massachusetts as well as nationally. Image courtesy of Boston Public Library.
