North Atlantic Ocean (Oct. 24, 2001) Sea spray whips across the deck of the USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) as the ship plows through rough seas in the Northern Atlantic Ocean. The Norfolk, Va.-based destroyer is returning home after completing a deployment to the United Kingdom and Norway. The ship is named in honor of Sir Winston Spencer Leonard Churchill (1874-1965), best known for his courageous leadership as British Prime Minister during World War II.
