Horace Chapin Henry, Seattle, ca 1895 (MOHAI 776)
Summary
Born in Bennington, Vermont, Horace Chapin Henry joined the Union Army and fought at Gettysburg. After the Civil War, he moved to Minneapolis and worked for a railroad contractor. In 1890, he came to Washington to construct the Northern Pacific Railway. The Henry family resided in Seattle and supported many local philanthropic interests such as the anti-tuberculosis league.
