Jericho, Vt., native Spc. Travis Hale, an engineer for Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain), observes a fire chief with the Afghan National Police adjust a pump throttle during a practical excersize in Bamyan, Aug. 7 . Hale is a firefighter when he is not drilling with the Vermont National Guard brigade, and has come to Bamyan from Bagram Air field to conduct training in the use of the firefighting equipment. The ANP have this equipment, but were not given the proper training on how to use it, said Hale. The three day training consisted of proper use of various equipment during practical exercises, as well as maintenance.
