Joint Multinational Training Command soldiers participate in SHARP terrain run

description

Summary

Capt. Alan Cheung (center- left), leads soldiers from the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the Joint Multinational Training Command during a Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) terrain run through Grafenwoehr’s Main Post facilities in Germany. The unit ran to the locations of seven resiliency programs that are partnered with the SHARP program through the Ready and Resilient Campaign. The formation stopped at each location where the unit victim advocate explained how community members could access that resource to build resilience. Under the Ready and Resilient Campaign, several resiliency programs, such as SHARP, ASAP, and suicide prevention, align to improve readiness throughout the Army. According to the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Annual Report, there were 3,374 reports of sexual assault involving service members throughout the Department of Defense in fiscal year 2012 – a six percent increase from the previous year. It also shows there were 1,423 reports of sexual assault throughout the Army – a number that reflects a 16 percent decrease from fiscal year 2011.
