JOINT TASK FORCE, US Army Photo
Summary
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (April 27, 2004)---- U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Nolet Antoine, a Haitian-American interpreter for the Maritime Component Commander at Joint Task Force-Haiti, tells members of the Haitian coast guard rules for shooting their weapons at the range April 28. Though they carry weapons daily, most had only been to the range during their initial training, which for some was more than two years ago.
Normally Antoine is a machinery technician at U.S. Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Colfax, La., but deployed to Haiti in March as an interpreter. He is the only Coast Guard interpreter for the Maritime Component Commander.
Maritime Safety and Security Team 91104 out of Galveston, Texas, is here training members of the Haitian Coast Guard. The training should enable them to continue to provide security on the water and help stabilize the country.
