Karen Moen holds the urn of her late husband Edward
Summary
Karen Moen holds the urn of her late husband Edward Weissenback, a recently recovered Air America crewman, during a Chain of Custody ceremony on Joint Base Pearl-Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, Sept. 16, 2019. Weissenback and his crew were on a routine resupply mission when their aircraft went down over Laos Dec. 27, 1971. After 48 years, a DPAA team recovered the remains and brought them back where DNA testing was completed, and his wife and sister were notified of her husband’s identification. The mission of DPAA is to provide the fullest possible accounting for missing personnel, their families and the nation. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Jacqueline A. Clifford)
