description

Summary

Lance Cpl. Christopher Henegan poses for a photo April 19 after making it through the “pit-and-pond” obstacle during the endurance course at Jungle Warfare Training Center, Okinawa, Japan. The E-course is the culminating event of two weeks of Marines learning how to survive and fight in a jungle environment. During the training, Marines become proficient in hasty rappelling, identifying hazards, moving quietly and knot tying. JWTC is the only facility of its kind in the Department of Defense, stretching 20,000 acres across the unforgiving Okinawan wilderness. Henegan is an Anchorage, Alaska native and rifleman with Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The Battalion is attached to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force as part of the unit deployment program. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Matthew Callahan/Released)
