Langdale Cotton Mill, 5910 Nineteenth Avenue, Valley, Chambers County, AL
Summary
Significance: The Langdale Cotton Mill is part of the Langdale Historic District. According to the National Register nomination, the mill consists of an "excellent group of mill buildings from the late-nineteeth to early twentieth centuries." The mill was originally constructed in 1866 for the Chattahoochee Manufacturing Company. An 1886 fire destroyed the original structure, and the replacement was erected on the original foundations for the new owner, West Point Manufacturing Company. Additions were made to the building throughout its history, and in 1912, it was converted from water power to electricity.
