Summary

Significance: Combination REA, freight depot, and passenger station laid out beneath the main line viaduct of the Lehigh Valley Railroad (LVRR). An interlocking tower marks the west end of the station, adjacent to vehicular access beneath the tracks. The passenger station waiting room is at the east end with an entrance drive off Smith Avenue and the Third Street Bridge. The single-story station is constructed of brick, with cantilevered reinforced concrete brackets supporting the track overhang. An interior stair ascends to track level and the canopied platforms.
