description

Summary

Aaron Macy Powell asserts to William Lloyd Garrison that the "spiritual weapons" at their disposal are no less powerful & no less required even in the midst of "the war cry and the battle array". Powell attributes the "disease of war" to the "slow, consuming, chronic poison of slavery". Powell decrys the vindictivenss and "bloodthirstiness" of many towards the South, and predicts that there is no "retracing of steps" imaginable.
