Letter from George Thompson, London, [England], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1845 October 2

description

Summary

George Thompson writes to Maria Weston Chapman regarding contributing some lines in the "L[iberty] B[ell]." He says that "Blanche" is a sister of Miss Hilditch and will contribute to the Faneuil Hall bazaar. He discusses his sonnets. He is getting restless to visit the U.S. again. He does not believe that sending presents to the South are not "justly chargeable with any intention to fraternize with slaveholders, as such." He criticizes E.S. Abdy's remarks in American newspapers which appear to be "absolutely false." He writes that while she shall be holding her bazaar, he will be prosecuting the principle agent in the dethronement of Raja of Saltara.
