Letter from Henry Grew, Philadelphia, [Pa.], to William Lloyd Garrison, Nov. 29th, 1834

Henry Grew writes: "We have attended several meetings of the Female Anti-Slavery Society in this city. Mr. Purvis and myself delivered addresses last Thursday evening to a crowded assembly." He hopes that George Thompson will come to Philadelphia. He fears that the Lord will punish the U.S. for the sin of slavery. He wants to subscribe to the Liberator. He ends the letter with a brief sermon on William Lloyd Garrison's marriage and good wishes regarding his wife: "May she, by the divine bessing, be a helpmeet indeed in the glorious course of truth and righteousness, and a solace to you in every hour of trouble."
