Letter from John Remond, Salem, [Massachusetts], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1833 April 7th

John Remond writes to William Lloyd Garrison discussing the funds raised for Garrison's trip to England, including a sum presented by the Colored Female Moral and Religious Society of Salem. Remond describes his efforts and those of other African-American abolitionists to raise money for Garrison, saying "I have long had a wish that our colored friends would do something for your in this quarter .. [to recognize] all your time and services devoted to the people of color." He then explains past incidents raising money with African-American societies in Salem and how the amount of $50 was reached.
