description

Summary

Sarah Moore Grimkè writes to Elizabeth Pease Nichol (on the back of a letter originally sent to William Basset) regarding instances of discrimination against colored people on account of their race, by Quakers. She wants Harriet Martineau to explain her statement that at the Broadway House in Cincinatti, "a colored woman sat down to table with the rest of the company." The proprietor of the hotel denied that this happened. She also writes that she has read with much interest the "Report of the Glasgow Emancipation Society."
