description

Summary

William P. Weeks writes to Amos A. Phelps in response to his last letter in which Phelps asked him about a scandal that Weeks had heard. He writes, "you enquire in the first place that 'when that insinuation was first made to me, if the whole story was not communicated also?' I answer No. You enquire in the second place, 'if said not tell you of it with the expectation of exciting your suspicion so that you might cease visiting Berwick?' I answer again No-for I thought then and think now that your feelings are too much interested. Your affection too ardent to be diminished..by what I or any one else might say to you upon the subject." He continues to clear up miscommunications between himself and Phelps. He discusses religious matters with Phelps in the second part of the letter.
