Liberty Farm - Blackstone River Valley

Liberty Farm - Blackstone River Valley

description

Summary

Liberty Farm in Worcester, MA was the home of Abby Kelley and Stephen Symonds Foster, which they purchased in 1847, the same year that their daughter Alla was born. The Foster family used their home as a symbol for what they believed. The house served as a stop on the Underground Railroad until the end of the Civil War. The Fosters were also known to refuse to pay taxes on the property, since Abby was not allowed to vote. Today, Liberty Farm is a National Historic Landmark and is a privately owned home.
