YAKUSHIMA, Japan (Oct. 18, 2009) Line handlers heave a line as the mine countermeasures ship USS Defender (MCM 2) moors pierside in the port of Miyanoura on the Japanese island of Yakushima. Defender is the first U.S. Navy ship to make a port call to this small Island. Miyanoura is a United Nations World Heritage Site located 225 miles south of the Japanese mainland.
