Lt. Col. John W. Evans Jr. (right), outgoing commanding officer, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, welcomes Lt. Col. Justin S. Dunne, incoming commanding officer, 2/3, following their change of command ceremony at Dewey Square on Marine Corps Base Hawaii, June 29, 2011. After assuming command of 2/3 in 2009, Evans led the battalion on a deployment to Helmand province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from November 2010 to June 2011. While preparing to assume command of 2/3, Dunne most recently served in 3rd Marine Regiment's operations section.
