Lt. Col. Matthew Garrison's spouse, Magdalena, accepts roses during the Illinois Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 178 Infantry Regiment Change of Command Ceremony on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Illinois Army National Guard's Marseilles Training Area in Marseilles, Illinois. Lt. Col. Milton Ware of Chicago relinquished command of battalion to Garrison, also of Chicago, during the ceremony. About 400 Soldiers of the Chicago-based 1-178th Infantry Battalion are scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan later this summer.
