(Aug. 20, 2009) Machinist's Mate 1st Class Chad Craycraft, a chief petty officer select temporarily assigned to USS Constitution, removes the tampion from a 24-pound long gun aboard Constitution. Chief selects learn how to load and fire the almost 7,000 pound weapon during the annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Week. The 139 selects, including two Royal Navy Sailors, spend a week living and training aboard Constitution immersed in more than 200 years of naval heritage that they'll carry back into the fleet as the Navy's newest chiefs.
