Maj. Gen. Robert F. Hedelund, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing

Maj. Gen. Robert F. Hedelund, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing commanding general, presented Maj. Michael W. Hutchings and Capt. David W. Haake, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365 MV-22B Osprey pilots, with Distinguished Flying Crosses in the squadron’s hangar aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River, June 28. The Marines were awarded for the bravery and courage shown during a mission to insert a reconnaissance raid force into a heavily defended enemy landing zone in Afghanistan in June 2012. They are the first Marine Corps Osprey pilots to earn the Distinguished Flying Cross.
