Marché de St. Germain, 1831 - Public domain historic place engraving
Summary
After a seven-year long construction process, the Marché de Saint-Germain was opened to the public in 1820. In 1831, when this engraving was made, the market consisted of nearly forty arcades and was one of the most popular in Paris. Located on the rue du Four in the sixth arrondissement, the market featured five iron gate entrances, as well as a decorative fountain.
