Summary

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION FUTENMA, OKINAWA, Japan – A training pit stands before live burn training March 24 on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The training allows Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Marines to respond to a controlled fuel fire to enhance their readiness and ability to respond to any potential hazards or emergencies that may occur on the flight line. During the training, bulk fuel specialists dispensed fuel into the training pit, which was then ignited by an ARFF Marine. ARFF Marines entered the training area and applied various communication and fire fighting techniques to extinguish the fire. The Marines are with ARFF, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Futenma, Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
