description

Summary

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif - Sgt. Christopher White provides instruction for firing an M16A4 service rifle during a Jane Wayne Day event at Camp Pendleton May 7, 2016. White is the assistant operations chief and a Detroit native with 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Jane Wayne day is an event that gives spouses and families the opportunity to experience everyday life in the military. During the event, Marines helped spouses experience a taste of what it feels like to operate in a battery by exposing them to small-arms weaponry and an M777 Howitzer.
“We are basically giving them a glimpse of our world,” said White. “For me, showing the kids what it’s like to be a Marine is the most rewarding thing because this experience might be what influences them to be a Marine someday.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Demetrius Morgan/RELEASED)
