description

Summary

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – Donald Long, a survivor of the Japanese attacks on Oahu, prepares to place a lei on Kaneohe Bay near Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Dec. 8, 2016. Long, a native of Barnum, Minn., was an aircraft radio striker onboard a PBY Catalina when Naval Air Station Kaneohe was attacked. He was attending the 75th commemoration of the Pearl Harbor attacks. The Greatest Generations Foundation is dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of veterans by returning them to their former battlegrounds, cemeteries and memorials to ensure that their legacies are recorded and retold in perpetually to future generations.
