Marines and sailors with the Chemical Biological Incident
Summary
Marines and sailors with the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force conducted an annual training exercise alongside the New York City Fire Department at a training academy in Randall's Island, New York. CBIRF conducted rope rescue, vehicle extrication, structural collapse and confined space training during the week long exercise. The event culminated with a night operation at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, where Marines and sailors rescued role-playing casualties from a simulated bomb explosion. The mission of CBIRF is to forward-deploy and/or respond, when directed, to a credible threat of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive incident in order to assist local, state or federal agencies and unified combat commanders in the conduct of consequence management operations.
