Summary
Marines retrieve a hose of a cyclonic separator from the Pacific Ocean at a water purification site during the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s MEU Exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 10, 2015. The water purification system’s cyclonic separator filters sand from ocean water, which is then purified into drinkable water. MEUEX is designed to test the 11th MEU’s ability to plan, brief and execute missions, while commanding and controlling forces from a shore-based expeditionary site. The Marines are water support technicians with Combat Logistics Battalion 11, 11th MEU. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Xzavior T. McNeal/Released)
