Marines with 2nd Platoon Company B, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment conduct patrols through the Kajaki district, Oct. 25. Until recently the district was securely under the control of insurgent fighters who operated in the area, with relative impunity, until the outset of Operation Eastern Storm, in which the Marines of 1/6 surged into the area during a battalion-wide helicopter-borne insertion, aimed at severely disrupting the insurgency’s sphere of control in the area.
