On this day in history, Sept. 27, 1918: 2nd Lt. Albert E. Baesel of Company B, 148th Infantry, 37th Division was killed near Ivoiry, France while attempting to rescue a wounded Soldier during the Meuse-Argonne Campaign. For his action he would be awarded the Medal of Honor.
