Members from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency kick off the 24-hour run for Prisoners of War and Missing in Action Week, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Sept. 20, 2018. Throughout the day participants will take shifts running around the Hickam Field track in remembrance of America's prisoners of war, those who are still missing in action and their families. From Sept. 17-21, events will be held throughout JBPHH as part of POW/MIA Recognition Week. The events include readings of the POW/MIA names, a reveille ceremony, beautification of POW/MIA memorial, information tables, sentinel posting, a 24-hour run, and ends on Friday with a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu. Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition Day are held across the country on military installations, ships at sea, state capitals, schools and veterans facilities.
