KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- A worker in the Payload Changeout Room on Launch Pad 39A watches as the P1 truss payload, plus the Crew and Equipment Translation Aid (CETA) cart B, move into the payload bay of Space Shuttle Endeavour. Scheduled to launch Nov. 10 on mission STS-113, Endeavour will make the 16th assembly flight to the International Space Station. Once delivered, the P1 truss will remain stowed until flight 12A.1 in 2003 when it will be attached to the central truss segment, S0, on the Space Station. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- Inside NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Orbiter Processing Facility Bay 1, workers move the sling into place around the forward reaction control system that will be installed on Atlantis. When ready, the shuttle equipment will be lifted for installation. The forward reaction control system is located in the forward fuselage nose area. During ascent of the space shuttle, it provides the thrust for attitude (rotational) maneuvers (pitch, yaw and roll) and for small velocity changes along the orbiter axis (translation maneuvers). CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. --- In the Orbiter Processing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, workers prepare space shuttle Discovery's payload bay for payload installation. The launch of Discovery on its STS-124 mission is targeted for April 24. On the right side is the shuttle's robotic arm.
