Members of the 4th Kandak, 4th Brigade, 205th Corps of the Afghan National Army fire high explosive munitions during a three day live fire exercise, Feb. 15, certifying them after 16 weeks of training on the D-30 Howizter. U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery, 41st Fires Brigade, 1st CAV division out of Fort Hood, Texas, is the only U.S. Mentoring and Evaluation Training Team to train the ANA on this artillery weapons system. NTM-A is a coalition of 37 troop-contributing nations charged with assisting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in generating a capable and sustainable Afghan National Security Force ready to take lead of their country's security by 2014.
