PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 10, 2012) Members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force inventory their equipment before conducting a beach landing exercise with Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15th MEU) aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) during Exercise Iron Fist 2012. Iron Fist is a training exercise between U.S. Marines and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force designed to increase interoperability and amphibious capabilities throughout the U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility.
