Members of the Nebraska Air National Guard welcomed
Summary
Members of the Nebraska Air National Guard welcomed Col. Clarence J. Christensen (Ret.) to the 155th Air Refueling Wing for a tour and a reunion of fellow retirees, as a way of showing their appreciation for his service. Christensen served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 until 1972, then transferred to the Nebraska Air National Guard and served as a fighter pilot from 1972-1978. During his active duty time, he was awarded The Air Force Association's Earl T. Ricks Memorial Trophy in 1958, for flying the fastest mission. Christensen was known for his "greasy hands" and greased flight suit. He enjoyed learning how his aircraft worked, he would turn wrenches with the air craft maintenance crews so he understood the entire process the engine would go through during flight.
