el, one thatwould do credit to the town. Belfast is said to be the cheapest place in allEurope or Great Britain in which to shop, andthis was borne out by our experience. Any onewho wishes to buy fine linen, from laces to tablecloths, can find it in Belfast; not only as goodbut cheaper than any other place in the world. The buildings, especially in the main portionof Belfast, are very pretentious, and there areseveral fine statues in the business streets, not-ably those of Queen Victoria, Lord Dufferin, andSir Edward Harland of shipbuilding fame, whichattract a great deal of attention, as also does theRoyal Victoria Hospital, one of the finest inGreat Britain, opened in 1903. The first forenoon we were in Belfast wevisited the Albert Memorial Clock Tower, themagnificent new City Hall, one of the finestmunicipal buildings in the world, and severalother public institutions.
