Mount Rainier and Lake Washington, ca 1910 (MOHAI 6331)
Summary
For many years, professional and amateur photographers have tried to catch good views of Mount Rainier as it rises over Seattle. The Mountain has become a symbol of the city.
Sometime around 1910, a photographer from the firm of Webster & Stevens took this photo from the western shore of Lake Washington near Leschi. Someone later retouched the snows of Mount Rainier and the waves in the lake with paint so that they would show up better in the photo.
